About Commercial Waste Clearance
Business waste has different rules to household waste. Under the Environmental Protection Act 1991’s Duty of Care, a business must arrange its own waste collection through a registered carrier and keep signed waste transfer notes as evidence for at least two years — commercial waste can’t legally go out with council household bin collections. In practice this usually means a scheduled bin (660L or 1100L are common sizes) collected weekly or fortnightly, sized to the business’s actual volume, plus segregation requirements for certain recyclable waste streams that don’t apply to a one-off domestic job.
