Commercial Waste Clearance
Scheduled ongoing collections, not a one-off skip or van visit
Pros
- Predictable ongoing cost that’s easier to budget than repeated one-off bookings
- The provider handles the waste transfer note paperwork a business is legally required to keep
Cons
- Usually tied into a minimum contract length, less flexible than a one-off skip or van booking
- Bin size needs to match your actual volume β undersized and it overflows, oversized and you’re paying for capacity you don’t use
About Commercial Waste Clearance
Business waste has different rules to household waste. Under the Environmental Protection Act 1991’s Duty of Care, a business must arrange its own waste collection through a registered carrier and keep signed waste transfer notes as evidence for at least two years β commercial waste can’t legally go out with council household bin collections. In practice this usually means a scheduled bin (660L or 1100L are common sizes) collected weekly or fortnightly, sized to the business’s actual volume, plus segregation requirements for certain recyclable waste streams that don’t apply to a one-off domestic job.

Frequently asked questions
Can a business just hire a normal skip instead of a contract?
For a one-off job β an office refit or shop fit-out, for example β yes. But for ongoing day-to-day trade waste, a business is legally required under its Duty of Care to use a registered waste carrier and keep transfer notes; putting commercial waste out with council-collected household bins isn’t legal, and using an unlicensed carrier can result in an Environment Agency fine for the business.
Are you a waste removal or skip hire company yourselves?
No β Compare Waste Removal is an independent comparison and information service. We recommend always checking a provider’s Environment Agency waste carrier licence directly before booking any job.
Is all the pricing on this site guaranteed?
No β costs mentioned are typical ranges reported by UK trade sources, not fixed quotes. Always get itemised quotes from more than one licensed provider before committing.
What happens after I request a quote?
We look for a waste removal company who covers your area to confirm the job β there’s no obligation to proceed with any quote.
